RACING THE SAILING FIELDS OF AMERICA

SCOW SAILING

I was raised on the sailing fields of America, in the heart of America, Wisconsin. My mentors were men named Tom Sawyer, Salty, Huck Sawyer, Perrigo, Haeger, Clayton, Melges, Orr, Brust, Barrett, Bowers, North, and many others. Fifty years ago, when the world was bigger, we were passionately exploring sail boat racing in all of its aspects.

MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES, AND DEVICES

Over two decades, techniques and hardware and sails changed. It was continuous trial and error. Anything to go faster, shorten the time, execute better.

KNOWLEGE

The physics of sailboat racing became better understood.

INFLUENCE

It was this influence that influenced my career. It was the pursuit of knowledge and the desire to always go faster.
